Danielle Ortiz>>School Psychologist

About Me:

Hello and welcome back! I am Danielle Ortiz, I have been working for Ripon Unified at Weston Elementary for the past 9 years as a school psychologist. I also worked at Colony Oak Elementary for 6 of those years. I absolutely love what I do! A lot of the students refer to me as Mrs. O. Prior to being a school psychologist I also worked as an early interventionist/behavior technician for an Autism Program previously known as CVAP Inc. I also worked for Stanislaus County Office of Education as a behavior specialist. In my spare time I love to be outdoors and being with my family. I love dogs and cats which use to be my passion of fostering pets but it's a little difficult now with two kids under the age of 4. Some of my hobbies are swimming, hiking and paddle boarding. My favorite place on earth is Kauai, HI.

How I Support Students:

I offer many services to support students, teachers and families. I apply my expertise in mental health, learning, and behavior to help students succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. I facilitate social skills groups, provide individual counseling and do check-in/check-outs with students who need extra support. I also implement positive reinforcement systems such as praise, privileges or a token economy to increase desired student behaviors (e.g., participation, following rules). Being a school psychologist is incredibly rewarding. Especially when you see students' use the skills they've been taught, build confidence, and succeed academically and emotionally.
