Welcome to Second Grade!!

In second grade, students build important skills in reading, writing, math, and communication.

Students will learn to read fluently and understand stories and informational texts, identify main ideas and key details, and explain their thinking. They will write complete sentences and short pieces to tell stories, share opinions, and explain ideas using correct grammar and punctuation.

In math, students develop strong number sense, add and subtract within 100, understand place value, solve word problems, and work with time, money, and measurement.

Students also practice speaking and listening skills, participate in discussions, and use problem-solving strategies across all subjects.

These standards help students grow into confident learners and prepare them for success in future grades.
