Weston and Park View Physical Education

Welcome to Weston's and Park View's Physical Education classroom!

Our students will be participating in many different activities throughout this upcoming school year. I hope that each student will look forward to coming to our class, both to learn new activities and to have a great time developing themselves physically and mentally as a student. Some of the traditional sports that we will be participating in are as follows, basketball, volleyball, flag football, soccer, hockey, and softball. We will also introducing some non-traditional sports as a part of our yearly curriculum. Daily warm-ups will consist of numerous stretches and exercise that are designed to improve each student's development in flexibility, strength and endurance.

The link for our PE schedule and class syllabus are listed below. I also included a copy of our Independent Study Sheet. This sheet is given to students who only miss a few days. For students that are going on Independent Study for more than a week, an alternative assignment will be designed specifically for the student and the duration they will be gone.

Just some examples of our class activities...
The FITNESSGRAM
In the month of March every 5th, 7th and 9th grader in our district will be tested in the Fitnessgram. Students will be asked to perform Push-ups, Curl-ups, Sit and Reach, Trunk Lift and the Mile. Their data will be collected and recorded and then sent back to the state. A variation of each exercise is a part of our daily activities in preparation for this specific testing.

I'm looking forward to another fun and exciting year with you all. My hope for every student is that we find some personal "niche" in a sport or fitness that turns you on to a lifetime of physical activity!!!
