1. LUNCHES-Students can either bring a lunch or obtain a lunch in the cafeteria. Breakfast is also available from 7:45-8:00.
SNACK- We will behaving snack before the 10:10 recess. Students must bring their own snack from home daily, we do not share due to allergies and health concerns. Healthy snack ideas: pretzels, fish crackers, graham crackers, fruit. Please keep this simple, smal and easy to open as this is also during playtime.
2. ABSENCES- When your child is absent please call the office, 599-7113. If you do not call, please send a note with an explanation (school policy). If children arrive after 8:15 the gate will be locked and they check into the office before coming to class. (School policy).
3. SAFETY Parents/visitors may not pass the front access gate unless they have checked in at the office. This is a school policy and will be enforced.
4. NEWSLETTERS The Weston Wildcat News is online. It is your most important source of information for Parent Club meetings, school calendar, lunch menu, and school news.
5. DRESSCODE We suggest no fancy clothes-we play hard in kindergarten. Sandals must have back straps. Tank tops must have at least a 1-inch strap. It is best if girls wear shorts under dresses. Please include an extra set of clothes in your child’s backpack for possible accidents.
6. BACKPACK Students will need a regular size backpack (no wheels, if possible) brought to school daily. Please look in the backpack and in the green homework folder every day.
7. Please put first and last names on all articles that might be left at school such as backpacks, sweaters, coats, hats, gloves, etc.
8. Report Card- Based on Common Core Standards. Students receive number grades instead of letter grades. Parent/Teacher Conferences are in November. Grades reflect scoring on assessments.
9. Neatness- Work must be neat or the student will be required to do the assignment over. Please work on this at home, your support is greatly appreciated. Always use pencil unless otherwise instructed.
10. Drop-off and Pick-up Zone- All students are dropped off at the front of the school. Students that arrive between 7:45-8:00 will need to go to the MUB (cafeteria). Students that arrive between 8:00-8:15 will go to the TK-K playground and wait for the bell to line up. All students will report to the cafeteria on rainy days. Students who ride the bus home will be escorted to the bus area. Students getting picked up will wait at the gate by the playground for an adult to pick them up. All drivers using the “yellow zone” must STAY IN THEIR CAR. If you wish to walk to the pick-up area, you will need to park in the parking lot or on the street.
11. Birthdays You may send a birthday “goody bag” for your child’s birthday, but please DO NOT include any food in the bag as we have students with food allergies and restrictions. A special gift and recognition will be given to each student on/or near their birthday. Summer birthdays will be celebrated at the end of the school year.
FRIDAY SPIRIT DAY– Wear green on Fridays.
HOMEWORKPOLICY District homework policy for kindergarten encourages the child to take home a note or assignment and return it the following day. Monday-Friday your child will bring home a green homework folder with classroom/school notes, daily homework in math and language. Review their daily work for skills & quality. Unless otherwise indicated, all homework is to be returned the following day. Please note that if a child is suspended or absent for any reason he/she will be expected to make up class work as homework. Any tests missed will be made up during class/recess. Independent Study (unexcused absence) can and will be scheduled in the office prior to the student's absence. Parents will need to connect with the office.
